My Grandpa Casey died this morning.
He’d been sick for quite some time, we went up and visited him on Sunday as our family said he’d taken a turn for the worse. He wasn’t able to speak and didn’t really seem to have a lot of recognition or anything, just could kind of open his eyes and look at people. Everyone was talking to him, and though he had no way to respond, we think he could hear. He was on a lot of morphine for pain at that point… like, a lot-a lot.
He is the first grandparent I’ve lost, and when I heard the news I didn’t feel like I had expected to. Just different. I’m not sure what that is. So now I’m praying for my Grandma and the rest of my family, and extended family.
Well, that’s all for now. I’ll have a more normal update soon but I just thought a death in the family warranted a real entry.
I hope everyone is well,
Brett Patrick Casey

Hey Brett. So sorry to read this terrible news. I remember when my grandpa died and how said it was. I’m hoping my other grandpa pulls through surgery today. It’s never easy…and it will seem different for awhile now. And yes, I still miss him, though he died back in 2000. I, honestly, don’t think that ever goes away. But so long as you remember him and how he helped shape you (or influence who you are in some way), then he’s never far away. Peace.

Brett,
I’m so sorry to read about this news. I have tried to call and email so this is my last ditch effort, posting on your very beautifully designed website. I miss and love you. Call or email me if you need anything.
